Wendy Drexler: The Networked Student
In this video it shows how people all accross the world can learn from each other by sharing information, lessons, business ideas and much more. I think this video is very interesting because to think in 5 years, how people all accross the world will be learning from each other, and how people will be learning from each other in many different ways in many different areas.

A 7th graders personal learning environment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEls3tq5wIY
This video shows how a 7th grader has organized her learning environment so that it will be easy for her to learn and better for her to learn in any environment. She has many different tools and applications in one general area to make it better for her to learn and easier for her to share the things that she has learned. I think this is very cool because it is an easy way to learn and compatible for her to take what she has learned and to share it.

In Michael Staton's argument, he states that smartboards are very expensive, and how the old models are just the same. In Bill Ferriter's argument, he states that it did not help him in teaching the lessons to his students and how that he felt like they were just not worth using.

Comment for Kids summary post

boy and girl
In my first comment for kids I posted to Ally's blog.
http://allybb17.edublogs.org/
Ally likes to do gymnastics and in my first post on her blog, I asked her how she got started in gymnastics and I wished her luck at her upcoming meet.

In my second post, I posted to Mosa's blog
http://pesmosak.blogspot.com/
Mosa likes to have holidays where he can go swimming. I told him that I like holidays too so I can relax and spend time with my family.

In my third post I went back to Ally's blog
http://allybb17.edublogs.org/

Ally attended her talent show at her school. I posted to ask her if she had a favorite part of the talent show, and if she played any instruments. Ally mentioned that at this talent show, there were more people that chose to play instruments.

Blog Assignment 5

Langwitches
http://langwitches.org/blog/category/podcasting/
This is about learning how to write a story and the different aspects of reading a story, being an author of a story. This also talkes about some things that did not work, and some of the things that did work. This is about getting students to work on their own blogs, and how they all worked together to create not only a team but how that worked together to create a good learning project.

The Practical Principals

This is a website that gives information regarding many different topics and subjects such as tools on the ipad, how education and technology work together, things on the ipod.

The Benefits of Podcasting in the Classroom
http://joedale.typepad.com/integrating_ict_into_the_/2009/04/the-benefits-of-podcasting-in-the-classroom.html
This video gives information of how podcasting can be useful in the classroom. Some of the ways that this can be helpful is for example when a student is out for whatever reason, he or she can listen to a lecture that they missed to catch up on important information. Students can use podcasts themselves to create different personalities and create different roles to help them learn in a creative way.

Some of the ways that I can use what I have watched in my own podcast is to put lots of creativity in to my podcast.

Manaiakalani Swimming Technology Water Safe Pools2Schools
This post is about PT England School not having a pool in order to teach water safety lessons. In order to help with this problem Watersafe Auckland decided to bring their pool and set it up on their netball court. This helped the students to learn water safety, how to swim, and to feel confident while being in the water.
My post said that I think this was a good idea to help kids that may have a fear of water to help overcome that and to help them learn safety tips while being in the water.

Micheal Wesch: A Vision of Students Today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGCJ46vyR9o&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Ftechliterateteacher%2Eblogspot%2Ecom%2F&feature=player_embedded
This is a very true example of how students are today. This video made me think that although sometimes school can be very hard and stressful, it will be worth it in the end when I am able to get a job that I love. . I agree with many of the things that were said in the video because it is how a college student lives in today's society.

"It's not about the technology" by Kelly Hines
http://eduratireview.com/2009/04/its-not-about-technology.html/
In today's society technology is not the only way that a teacher can teach their students. Every child is different and they all learn in very different ways.
Before 10 years ago, many of the forms of technology were not available teachers had to still use the chalkboard and students had to listen and learn. This concept should still be used today to show that even though technology is evolving, that the old ways of learning are still useful.

Karl Fisch: Is it ok to be a technologically illiterate teacher?
http://thefischbowl.blogspot.com/2007/09/is-it-okay-to-be-technologically.html
I think it is ok to be a technologically illiterate teacher with a willingness to learn. If a teacher is willing to admit that they are not up to speed with technology then they should be willing to say that they are willing to learn more.

Gary Hayes Social Media Count
http://www.personalizemedia.com/garys-social-media-count/
This shows me that every second a form of technology is just being discovered and is being used by some one in the world. This just shows me that when I become a teacher that their will be many new forms of technology that I will have to get up to speed with and become comfortable with using.
I do not think that this is a bad thing for the world, I just think that in order to do this right that every teacher must be willing to learn because technology is growing every day.

Blog Assignment 2

rip van winkle
Did you know?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL9Wu2kWwSY
This video made me stop and think how different technology is today, and how far that we have come. Just 2 years ago technology was very different and we did not have some of the connections that we have today. This video shows many different adaptions that we have made to technology. Some of these adaptions include how many people search google a month, to how many people have a myspace and facebook account.
Without technology being a part of today's society, many things that people try to accomplish would not be possible. Some companies now only look at people interviewing for a job through the internet. In the next 5 years it is hard to imagine where we would be without the advances made in technology every day.

Mr. Winkle Wakes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm1sCsl2MQY
This video is about Rip Van Winkle waking up after 100 years of being asleep and waking up to a different world. He woke up to find that there was technology and people that were working on computers evolving technology. Mr. Winkle went to a school where children were listening to their teacher and taking notes. He then noticed that there was a computer that was dusty sitting in the back of the room.
Mr. Winkle thought that this was a nice way of seeing that some things did not change. This was comforting to Mr. Winkle because he thought that even though he had been asleep for 100 years some ways of life had not changed.

Sir Ken Robinson The importance of creativity
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/ken_robinson_says_schools_kill_creativity.html
This video is about making sure that creativity can be a big change in the way that teachers are educating the children of America. Creativity is very important in helping children to learn because of the different learning styles of every child. Ken Robinson thinks that creativity should be a part of the learning way of schools.
Creativity can open up a child's mind to help them to learn new things and how a child will be able to understand what the teacher is trying to teach them.

Cecelia Gault interviews Sir Ken Robinson
http://blogs.scholastic.com/kidspress/2010/09/breaking-creative-myths.html
These videos are about why schools in other countries are doing better in education and why they have a lower drop out rate than the United States. What some of the conclusions came to were that people in other countries have a better way of engaging the attention of their students and by being passionate about what they do.
For a teacher trying to teach, being passionate about what you are trying to portray to your students can be one of the many ways to keep a students attention and by doing that it will allow students to learn in a better way.

Vicki Davis: Harness your students digital smarts
http://www.edutopia.org/digital-generation-teachers-vicki-davis-video
This video shows how Mrs. Davis is helping her students to learn by letting them use many different types of technology in her classroom and she has seen that this is helping them to learn. She is teaching them how to learn by learning about technology and software.
In todays society she thinks that learning about the many different types of technology will help the students to be better prepared for the society when they get out of school.
